Alder Alnus Glutinosa |
It was all thanks to a bloke I met on the bus last year, called Dan, who showed me where they were. before that; I was always short of Alders, but now I have a virtual gold mine of them, continuously seeding themselves, faster than I can thin them out.
Now, in case you didn't already know; Alders are swamp trees, and much of the ungrazed land I plant is ideal for them. With such an abundance of them; last year (year 10) I got lots of swampy areas done; as shown here. Masses of very vigorous and healthy looking trees and just on their first year after planting.
